Ms Kate Reynolds has been employed at the International School of Azerbaijan since August 2006 as a Secondary School Visual Arts teacher. I have known Kate in my role as Secondary School Principal since that date.

Kate has taught MYP Visual Arts from Grade 6-10 and DP Visual Arts HL/SL. Over the past two years Kate has been a major contributor in developing the courses she has taught. She has written new overviews, unit plans and scope and sequence documents (DP) for all grade levels. Kate's knowledge of the OP Visual Arts subject programmes is advanced on account of her experience, commitment to professional growth and appropriate TB workshop training.

Kate is an experienced and highly capable classroom teacher. Her teaching in the lE programmes is strongly based on the enquiry learning and skills acquisition approach. Her knowledge of MYP and OP developments is current and appropriate having worked constructively with colleagues and Coordinators as well as having recent IB workshop experience. Kate has also had some experience of the crs school accreditation process and an MYP evaluation visit during her tenure.

Kate's manner with children is encouraging and she expects high standards from the whole class. The classroom atmosphere she creates is purposeful, organized and supportive. Kate has spent many hours after school working with her classes, tirelessly preparing her lessons and ensuring that student work is well displayed around the campus. Students are set activities and assessments which are interesting and appropriate and Kate reports student progress to parents in a constructive manner.

Kate has made an excellent contribution to the development of the Art facilities and resources at TISA. She has worked hard to make sure that high quality resources are available to develop creative and varied visual arts programme. She is a strong promoter of the arts and has organised two very successful and popular overseas art trips for MYP and OP students.

Kate is also a highly regarded teaching colleague who works very positively with other members of staff. She has a commitment to personal professional growth through the setting and achievement of her own annual teaching goals and is supportive of our school-wide improvement plans. Her contribution to the overall life of the school is very positive and she shows on a daily basis the flexibility and commitment essential for a small but growing international school such as TISA. Kate has also been a committed and reliable homeroom teacher.

Kate has served two highly successful years of service at TISA and I recommend her strongly for a similar teaching position in an international school. The school that employs her will prosper significantly from her experience in the IB programmes and her considerable teaching abilities.
